Miss Lizzie Doten
(1828-1908), americana oradora por inspiración, acreditada como la más
grande y mejor improvisadora del Siglo XIX por Noted American Women. Dos
volúmenes se han publicado de sus poemas:
Poems from the Inner Life (Poemas de la vida interior) y Poems of Progress (Poemas del progreso).
Ella recitaba de manera improvisada desde el escenario hablando a veces bajo la
influencia directa de Edgar Allan Poe y entregando un poema notable titulado
Resurrexi. Es una maravillosa reproducción musicalmente lineal y una alineación
al estilo de Poe manifestando la misma intensidad de sentimiento. Durante los
últimos 28 años de su vida, la Srta. Dote se retiró del campo de la lectura y
del trabajo mediumnistico por la razón de que ella se ha vuelto incapaz de que
su personalidad no influya en las actuaciones y dejar que las influencias
espirituales puedan trabajar libremente.

DOTEN, Miss
LIZZIE
(1828-1908), American inspirational speaker, accredited as the greatest and
best improvisatrice of the XIX Century in Noted American Women. Of her
inspirational poems two volumes had been published: Poems from the Inner
Life and Poems of Progress. She recited them impromptu from the
platform, speaking on one occasion under the direct influence of Edgar Allan
Poe and delivering a remarkable poem, entitled: Resurrexi. It is a
wonderful reproduction of the singular music and alliteration of Poe's style
and manifests the same intensity of feeling. During the last 28 years of her
life Miss Doten withdrew from the lecture field and mediumistic work by reason
of the fact that she had become unable to determine the point at which her
personality ceased to act and the agency of spirit influence began.
